You are what you eat and so a healthy lifestyle
makes the best of you! Deciding as to what to eat for keeping the taste buds
happy is a good idea unless your health is not being compromised. A vast
variety of delicious fruits and vegetables produced by the nature makes it sure
that you don’t have to compromise in either way, if you are to follow healthy
lifestyles.
Vegetables and fruits consists of the essential
vitamins, fibers, photochemical, folate, vitamins and minerals that makes your
body functions smooth. Five times intake of fruits and vegetables a day is
important to make the digestion easy in five portions rather than a bulk all at
once. This way the gut needs not to work hard on digestion. Being an excellent
source of dietary fiber, fruits and vegetable encourage the peristalsis
movement of the intestine that removes the toxins from the body, promoting
digestion and doing away with the problems related to constipation.
Researches have recommended a minimum of 400g of
fruits and vegetables a day as a healthy intake. Low fats and calories makes
fruits and vegetables reduce the risk of strokes, heart diseases, blood
pressure, type 2 diabetes, and cancer to a greater extent keeping in notice
that they haven’t been cooked in a lot of oil. Lower fats and calories make
sure that the risk of gaining weight or obesity is far from reach.
Additionally, five intakes a day means that a
combination of a wide variety of fruits and vegetables having different nutrition,
minerals, fiber and vitamins would be consumed by the body ensuring the
fulfillment of all a healthy body requirements. However, please note that ‘5 A
day’ emphasis is on getting five 80g portions of fruit and vegetables every day
and it shouldn’t be confused with having them alone separately but five
portions of each altogether in order to achieve healthy results.
There is no restriction as to which fruits and
vegetables should be counted in for a ‘5 A DAY’ diet routine. However,
potatoes, yam, plaintain and cassava are exceptions in a sense that they mainly
contribute starch to the diet. Apart from the Fresh fruits and vegetables,
fruits that are frozen, tinned/ canned, dried and even those that have been
cooked in dishes contain in them all the essential nutrition, that doesn’t get wasted
in any way. Though beans and pulses are also a part of the 5 A Day diet plan,
one thing to be noted is that it counts as one portion a day as it
contains fewer nutrients compared to other fruits and vegetables. So no matter
how much is your intake, it will still be counted as one.
So are you ready for a fruity and juicy diet plan
for your own good? All this plan requires is maintaining a good habit of
thinking and acting good for your own self J Stay Healthy!
